Laurie Bone (Strickland)

Laurie B. Strickland

June 27, 1954 - March 4, 2022

Beverly - Laurie Bone Strickland of Beverly, MA, passed away peacefully Friday morning, March 4, 2022. Beloved sister of James Bone, his wife, Kelly, and nephew, Jack of Ipswich; she also is survived by her aunt, six cousins, and her two cats. Predeceased by her parents, Robert and Lorraine Bone; and eight aunts and uncles, Laurie was part of a loving extended family.
Laurie recently retired from a 40-year career as a marketing professional in the architectural, engineering and construction industry where she was recognized as a leader and mentor. She was a national fellow in the Society for Marketing Professional Services and former president of the Boston Chapter. She was a frequent speaker and contributor to diverse educational activities in the field. Before her retirement, she served as Marketing Manager at Nitsch Engineering and previously at Haley & Aldrich, Inc., both in Boston. She received several prestigious awards for her professional contributions.
Laurie was born in Port Jefferson, NY, and spent her early childhood in Newton, MA, and later in Needham, MA, where she graduated from high school. The family enjoyed many summers at their home away from home on the Blackwater River in New Hampshire and memorable trips back to Port Jefferson, NY, for extended family gatherings.
Laurie attended Massachusetts College of Art where she developed her love of graphics, fine art and painting, a life-long passion, particularly in painting landscapes. In her 20s, Laurie moved to Colorado for a job opportunity where she enjoyed the music and outdoor lifestyle of the Rocky Mountain State. Laurie returned to New England, living in New Hampshire and then on the North Shore. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, theater, concerts, crafts, music, parties, golf, antiquing, along with painting with oils and watercolor.
Laurie cherished her family and friends. She adored her cats, Marlowe and Grady. She loved to travel and socially engage. Among her most memorable trips was with her parents to Italy as a teen, a recent trip to Scotland and her many trips with family and friends to favorite spots in the Caribbean and Southern US. She was a fun, kind, caring and considerate friend. Her enthusiasm for life lifted those whose lives she touched. She will be dearly missed.

A celebration of her life will be held in the spring. Arrangements by Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Laurie's honor to the Save the Children Foundation. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.

Laurie was my confidant at NHS. She was a great listener and friend always offering solutions and support. I'm sorry we only reconnected at a reunion many years ago, alas we were living in Maryland at the time so distance was a limiter for visiting.
After reading her wealth of accomplishments I am not surprised. She was a go-getter!! I was looking forward to seeing her in October and sorry that won't happen.

Our condolences to her family.
