Obituary

Martha Jane Gaudet Remsen passed away on January 16th, 2022. She was born in 1945, the third child of Jeannie and Ralph Gaudet, of Needham.

Marty, as she was affectionately known, was a dedicated resident of the Town of Needham and lived there most of her life. She was an English teacher at Needham High School for thirty years and also coached the field hockey and tennis teams at the start of her career. She had an immeasurable impact on hundreds of young adults who grew up in Needham for over three decades. Marty was also the president of the choir at the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church in Needham for 40 years and found joy and peace in music and singing. Marty was an avid woodworker and shared her talents by creating furniture and art pieces for most of her family and friends. She had a veracious appetite for reading and was also a huge sports fan. She loved playing golf, following all of her beloved Boston teams, and cheering on her children and grandchildren.

Marty is survived by her husband of over 50 years, David Remsen, her son Scott, her daughter Christine and husband David Johnson with their two children Angus and Ewan, her brother Ralph and wife Terry Gaudet, and her brother Peter and his wife Maureen Gaudet.

Her funeral service will be held on Sat Jan 22 at 10 AM in the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church 800 Highland Ave Needham followed by interment in Needham Cemetery. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be on Fri Jan 21 from 4-7 PM in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham.

Anyone attending the wake or church service are required to wear a mask.
