Wow. So glad so many Harris Elementary alumni remember Walter. I also had a crush on him. I remember him in one of the Pollard school plays. He was a giftted actor. It was quite a shock when he passed so young and so suddenly. What a nice kid he was to everyone. And very very smart.
Walter was very popular and we got to be good friends during my time at Pollard Junior High School. Along with Mark Davis, John Erickson, Peter Costello, Jim Schermerhorn, Fred Kempton, Bruce Howell, Dick Weaver, Jeff Helm and several others, we were a tight-knit group that played baseball, football and street hockey together. I remember one baseball game where Walter played shortstop wearing a catcher's mitt. He was friendly, smart and he had a terrific sense-of-humor His death affected me deeply because it was so sudden and so tragic. As a side-note, he took me along to my first rock concert, a memorable night at Boston Gardon to see Jimi Hendrix.

I went to Harris Elementary School with Walter (Wally) and we were childhood friends.
Martha McKay (Jason)
I went through elementary school with Walter, too. Great guy! The Ouija board said I was to marry him.
Mark Davis
A close childhood friend at Harris, and Pollard. Wore out my bicycle riding to his house all the time. Tough funeral to attend.
