George F. Hurley Jr.

George F. Hurley, Jr. of Boston, formerly of Needham, died in his sleep on May 27, 2018 
after a period of declining health. He was 64. Born on May 1, 1954 to the late George F. And 
Cecelia McDonald Hurley, he was a graduate of Needham High School and the University of 
Massachusetts College of Nursing. George was a former nurse at Beth Israel Hospital and 
most recently worked at the Dimock Center. George was devoted to helping others in recovery 
from addiction. He was admired for his unbridled enthusiasm, openness, lack of pretense and 
steadfast optimism. George had a kind and compassionate heart and was deeply loved by a 
wide circle of friends. He will be remembered as a humble man who exhibited an unwavering 
faith in God and a deep love for his fellows. 
Survivors include a brother Stephen of Flagstaff, Arizona, and extended family members 
Including aunts and cousins. There are too many close friends to count. 
Family and friends will celebrate and remember George’s life by gathering for a Funeral Mass on Saturday, June 2, at 12noon, at St. Cecilia Church, 18 Belvidere St., Boston, MA 02115 www.stceciliaboston.org
